Cloud computing and export controls

9th September 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

In 2020, exports don’t have to go physically across borders to be subject to different countries’ controls and regulations.

Software and technology stored or accessed using cloud services are subject to export controls and those using or providing these services have various potential licensing obligations to be aware of.

Our webinar on 9 September will cover the controls and licences that apply to users of the cloud.

Register here >>

It will cover:

  • An overview of Cloud Computing: what it is, how it is structured, what does it offer.
  • Which export control regulations apply – US, UK, EU?
  • What requirements and constraints do the regulations place upon users?
  • What are the best practices that should be applied when using Cloud Computing solutions?

The webinar is being delivered by Richard Tauwhare, a former UK diplomat with over 40 years’ experience in promoting and regulating UK exports; in negotiating international trade agreements; and in designing and implementing sanctions and embargoes. He is currently an independent consultant advising on international trade issues including export controls.

The webinar is being run by the IOE&IT’s Export Control Profession – www.exportcontrolprofession.co.uk

The Export Control Profession enables and promotes excellence in compliance with export and import controls and trade sanctions in the UK and globally. It recognises that responsibility and liability do not lie solely with the exporter or importer and that increasingly other actors along the supply chain can share responsibility and liability.
